Ben Lamb
Ben Lamb founded Sarum Voices in the late 1990s, and has been at the helm ever since. As well as conducting all but a tiny minority of their performances, he has written and arranged many works for the choir, and is the official Clean Cut Counter-Tenor.
He started his musical career as a chorister in Salisbury Cathedral under Richard Seal, and the inspiration he found here led to his determination to follow a musical path. He has held organ scholarships at Truro and Salisbury Cathedrals, and was Organist & Master of the Choristers at St Peter’s Church, Bournemouth from 2003 to 2007. When his wife Cathy was appointed to the post of Assistant Organist at Lichfield Cathedral in 2007, Ben moved to the Midlands with her, and has since joined the Lichfield team as an Alto Lay-Vicar.
On the education front, Ben is Director of Outreach at St Peter’s Church, Wolverhampton (in partnership with the government’s SingUp! Programme) and does a great deal of piano and singing teaching.
