Recordings

The choir's first recording, Through Vaults of Time (1999), played to its early strengths, consisting of church music from a wide range of periods. The popularity of our first Song & Verse concert gave rise to demand for a disc of the lighter side of our repertoire, met by Since You Went Away (2000). Two sister albums followed: the Christmas disc A Ceremony of Carols (previously Wolcum Yole) (2002), and its Passiontide counterpart Juxta Crucem (2003). A Ceremony of Carols includes Britten's Ceremony of Carols, and was first choice of the female voices recordings on Radio 3's Building a Library. Juxta Crucem also featured on the show, being rated as the best choral recording of Scarlatti's Stabat Mater. Also in 2003, we released the 5th Anniversary Celebration Song & Verse CD (2001 & 2003), which showcases the full spectrum of the eponymous concert. In 2004 the choir cut the sequel to its first album in the double-disc Through Vaults of Time, volume II, offering a further selection of English Cathedral repertoire including Walton's The Twelve. In 2005 we recorded Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Janacek's Otce Nas and Mass settings by Benjamin Britten and choir director Ben Lamb, on a disc entitled Adonai. Our most recent disc is Ero Cras, an album of Christmas carols either composed or arranged by Ben Lamb.

As well as these CDs on general release, Sarum Voices has produced several promotional discs for the Royal School of Church Music and Wiltshire Life magazine.
